Renew Spotify Premium
Spotify terms do not add up: while a subscription is active, a new one cannot be set up. So a renewal is a fresh setup on the end date or right after it. Message the manager two days before the date; he will book a time and quote the price.
The renewal price equals the subscription price. Individual for a month — $4, for 12 months — $20 ($1.67 per month). Playlists, likes and history go nowhere during the gap.

Renewal prices by plan and term
A renewal is no different from the first setup, which is why the price is the same. The button in the row opens a chat with the manager with the plan and term already filled in — you only add the end date.

If the subscription ended a while ago and you want to change the plan — all plans and terms; listening as a couple or a family — Duo and Family.
Why Spotify cannot be renewed in advance
If you have renewed PS Plus or Xbox Game Pass, you are used to the new term simply being added to the remainder: bought a year with two months left — got fourteen. With Spotify this does not work, and it is the main thing to know before renewing.
Spotify Premium is not a code for a term but a state of the account: the subscription is either active or not. While it is active, setting up a second one on the same account is impossible; the service simply will not allow it. The term is not added up, the remainder is not carried over. So in practice, "renew Spotify Premium" means setting up the subscription again after the current one has ended — on the same account, the same region and, as a rule, the same plan.
Hence the only difficulty with renewal: it cannot be done ahead of time, but it can be prepared so that the gap is no more than a few hours. For that, it is enough to message the manager two days before the end date.
How to find out the end date
The date is visible in the account settings, and it is worth checking in advance, not when ads have already appeared in the app.
- Open the Spotify website in a browser and log in to your account. The phone app does not have this section; it has to be the website.
- Go to the account settings, the subscription section. It shows the current plan and the date of the next payment, or the date until which Premium is valid.
- If we set up the subscription, the wording may not be "next payment" but "valid until" or "cancels on such-and-such date." This is normal: we set up Premium for the paid term without auto-renewal, so the service shows an end date rather than a billing date.
- Write down this date or set a reminder two or three days before it. If you cannot find the section, message @timurjob1, say when you set it up and for what term, and we will tell you.
The second way is an email. Spotify sends a notification to the account's email address shortly before the subscription ends. But an email is easy to miss, and if the account is linked to a long-abandoned mailbox, it will not reach you. Checking the settings once is more reliable.
What happens during the gap
The most common fear about renewal is that something will be lost in the gap between the end of the old subscription and the start of the new one. Let us go through what happens to the account when Premium ends.
- Playlists, likes, albums, followed artists and podcasts — remain completely. These are account data, not subscription data, and Spotify does not touch them either when Premium ends or when the region changes.
- History and recommendations — remain. Weekly mixes keep being compiled.
- Downloaded tracks — physically stay on the device, but cannot be played offline without Premium: the app will show them as unavailable. As soon as Premium returns, they play again without re-downloading, provided no more than a few weeks have passed since the end and you have gone online at least once. During a long gap the app may delete the offline cache, and the tracks will need to be downloaded again — the playlists themselves go nowhere.
- The account switches to free mode: ads between tracks, shuffle on the phone, limited skips, lower quality. This is reversible; everything comes back with renewal.
- The account region does not change by itself. If we set up Premium through a foreign region, the account stays in it after the subscription ends. So a renewal on the same region goes faster than the first setup — the country does not need to be changed.
In short: a gap of a day or two breaks nothing. The only unpleasant thing about it is the ads. And those can be avoided if you write in advance.
Timeline of what to do
The table above shows the procedure briefly; here are the same steps with explanations.
Two or three days before the end. Message @timurjob1: the plan, the term and the date until which the current Premium is valid. The easiest way is to press "Renew" in the relevant row of the table — the text marked "renewal" fills in by itself, and you only need to add the date. The manager confirms the price and books you in for the end date. If the price changes by then because of the exchange rate, he will say so right away, not after payment.
The day before or on the end date. Pay for the order in cryptocurrency (USDT). You can also pay earlier, on the day you get in touch — then on the end date all that is needed from you is access to the account. We still will not be able to set it up before the end, but the order will already be in the queue.
On the end date or the next day. Send the login and password; if two-factor authentication is on, the confirmation code. If the current subscription is still active, the manager will wait until Spotify closes it: sometimes this happens not exactly at midnight but with a delay of a few hours. As soon as the account switches to free mode, Premium is set up in 15–30 minutes.
After delivery. Check in the settings that the plan and term are the ones you ordered, and change your password. Write down the new end date — the next renewal will follow the same scenario.
If the date has already passed and ads are already playing — nothing to worry about, the timeline simply compresses into one day: you write, pay, hand over access, and half an hour later Premium is in place.
Why auto-renewal is not available
In ordinary life you do not need to renew Spotify: the service charges the linked card itself once a month, and the subscription is not interrupted. For buyers whose cards Spotify does not accept, this mechanism is broken entirely, and here is why.
Spotify declines cards from many banks — the payment is rejected before any charge is made. Consequently, linking your own card to the account and getting auto-renewal is not possible. Setting up through a foreign region does not change this: the account region is Egypt, Pakistan or India, but the card is still yours, and the service will not take it.
That is why we set up Premium as a one-time subscription for the paid term. The payment method we use is not linked to the account after setup and does not charge anything automatically. This is actually a plus: no unexpected charges and no trouble with cancellation; the subscription simply ends on a known date.
A simple rule follows from this: the longer the term, the less often you need to renew. If messaging the manager every month is inconvenient, look at a yearly or six-month Individual — the renewal price table shows how much cheaper a month in a long term is compared to paying monthly.
Renewing on the same region
You need to renew on the region the account is in now. If we set up Premium, you know it: Individual — Egypt, Duo and Family — Pakistan, Platinum — India. There is no need to change the region for a renewal, and that is good: every change of the account's country is another reason for Spotify to run a check, and the number of changes is limited.
If you want to change plans when renewing — for example, move from Individual to Duo — a different region may be required. This can be done too, but the setup will take slightly longer than a regular renewal, because the account's country is changed first. Mention the plan change in advance, and the manager will take it into account when booking.
If the subscription was originally set up elsewhere and you do not know the account region — that is no problem either. Write to us; we will check it during setup and either renew on the current region or offer to move the account to one where the subscription holds up more reliably. Playlists remain when the region changes; more about which countries we use and why is on the Spotify regions page.
What is needed from you and what is not
For a renewal you will need:
- the plan and term — from the table above;
- the end date of the current subscription;
- the login and password for the account for the duration of the setup; with two-factor authentication, the code. After delivery, change your password; we no longer need access.
Not needed: a foreign card, a VPN for the setup, a new account, transferring playlists. The account stays yours; only the subscription status changes.
About the VPN separately: it is not needed for listening in the app, either before or after the renewal. It is useful for the web player at open.spotify.com and as a precaution on long terms — if you turn on a VPN for the country of setup, the subscription drops off less often. This is advice, not a condition.
If Premium ended before its time
A renewal is when the term has run out according to the calendar. If the subscription disappeared before the paid date, that is not a renewal but a warranty case: message @timurjob1, and we will restore or replace Premium for the remainder of the term. You do not need to pay for this. The terms are on the guarantees page.
One exception: if Spotify has banned the account itself, we cannot restore the subscription on it, because the decision is made by the service. We will help you write a support request, but the outcome does not depend on us. On why Premium drops off and how to reduce the risk, see the article Spotify without a ban.
In short
- Spotify terms do not add up; renewing in advance is impossible — only after the end.
- Write two days before the date: the manager will book a time, and the gap will be minimal.
- Playlists, likes and history are not lost in the gap; downloaded tracks play again after renewal.
- The renewal price equals the subscription price, calculated in the table above at today's rate.
- Renewal is on the same region; a plan change is possible, but say so in advance.
If the account has never had Premium and you are setting it up for the first time, go to the Spotify Premium landing page. If you are choosing between plans, they are all gathered in the tariff table, and for several listeners there is a breakdown of Duo and Family.
