Spotify regions: which country we set up in and why
You do not need to choose a region: it is assigned by plan. Individual is set up in Egypt, Duo and Family in Pakistan, Platinum in India. Individual for a month today — $4, the official US price — 12 $ per month.
The cheapest region and the region where the subscription holds for the whole term are different things. We set up in the latter, not the former, and below you can see why.

Where we set up each plan
The region was chosen for each plan by subscription stability, not by the lowest price. The price per month is calculated at today's rate and matches the price in the order.
| Plan | Setup region | Why here | Our price per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Individual | Egypt | cheap region, the subscription holds for the whole term | $4 |
| Duo | Pakistan | family plans are paid for more reliably here than in Egypt | $4.50 |
| Family | Pakistan | family plans are paid for more reliably here than in Egypt | $5 |
| Platinum | India | the lossless plan is available and cheapest here | $6 |
Spotify prices by country
Reference points for the official monthly Individual price in local currency and in US dollars. These are Spotify's prices, not ours, and they are approximate: Spotify changes regional prices 2–3 times a year. The "Holds" column is our experience: whether a subscription in that region survives to the end of the paid term.
| Country | Individual in local currency | In US dollars | Holds | We set up |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Egypt | ≈ 60 EGP | ≈ 1.2 $ | yes | yes: Individual |
| Pakistan | ≈ 450 PKR | ≈ 1.6 $ | yes | yes: Duo, Family |
| India | ≈ 140 INR | ≈ 1.6 $ | yes | yes: Platinum |
| Nigeria | ≈ 1 300 NGN | ≈ 0.9 $ | no: frequent payment checks | no |
| Turkey | ≈ 150 TRY | ≈ 3.7 $ | no: needs a Turkish card, drops | no |
| Argentina | ≈ 6 000 ARS | ≈ 4.5 $ | no: taxes on top and a local card | no |
| USA | 11,99 USD | ≈ 12 $ | yes, but a US card is needed | no |

Why Spotify has different prices in different countries
Spotify sells the same subscription at a different price in every country. The catalog, sound quality, offline mode and recommendations are identical — only the price tag differs, and it is tied to purchasing power: in Egypt, Pakistan and India, Premium costs several times less than in the US and Western Europe. This is the company's official policy, not a loophole: the price is set by the country listed on the account, and it is confirmed by a payment method from that same country.
This is where the query "which Spotify region is cheaper" comes from. The answer is known and has been circulating on forums for years, but it only answers half the question. The other half — whether the subscription in that region will last at least until the end of the paid term — usually stays out of the picture, and it is precisely what determines what you end up paying for.
The cheapest region and the region where the subscription holds are different columns
In the table above these two things are deliberately split into different columns. The lowest official Individual price right now is in Nigeria, followed by Egypt, Pakistan and India. But Spotify knows about the regional difference as well as buyers do, and in cheap countries it checks payments more strictly: it matches the card's country with the account's country, periodically requests region confirmation, and on a mismatch removes Premium, leaving the account on the free tier.
A region "lives long" if three conditions are met at the same time: there is a reliable local payment method that can be used repeatedly; Spotify does not require the account owner to be physically in the country; and the subscription does not drop off at the next check. Nigeria passes on price and fails on payment — there are few working methods there, and subscriptions set up through them often get switched off after two or three weeks. Egypt, Pakistan and India pass on all three points. The price difference between them and Nigeria is a few tens of cents a month; the difference in stability is the entire subscription term.
That is exactly why we set up not in the cheapest region, but in the most reliable of the cheap ones. Saving 30 cents on the subscription price makes no sense if the subscription then has to be set up again every month.
Why each plan is set up in its own country
We have three working regions, and each is assigned to a plan:
- Individual — Egypt. For a single subscription this is the best balance of price and stability: the subscription holds for the entire term and renews without surprises, and the price is one of the lowest among countries where that is true.
- Duo and Family — Pakistan. Spotify checks family plans more carefully than single ones: members must be "at the same address," and in some countries address confirmation is requested regularly. In Pakistan, Duo and Family are paid for more reliably than in Egypt, and we moved the family plans there.
- Platinum — India. Platinum with lossless audio is not available everywhere, and in India it is the cheapest among countries where the subscription holds. If Platinum were available in Egypt at the same price, we would set it up there, but it is not.
The region is tied to the plan, not to the buyer's wishes. This settles the most frequent question in the chat: "can I have Turkey" or "let's do Argentina, it's cheaper there." It is not possible and not cheaper — and here is why.
Why not Turkey
Turkey was for a long time the "people's" region for everything: PS Plus, Game Pass, Spotify. With Spotify this stopped working for two reasons. The first is price: in recent years Spotify has raised Turkish prices several times, and Individual in Turkey is now roughly three times more expensive than in Egypt. The second is payment: Spotify requires a Turkish card, and subscriptions paid with gift codes or a foreign card drop off after the very first charge or do not renew at all. The result is an expensive region where the subscription does not even hold — not a single argument in its favor.
If your account is already in the Turkish region, that is not a problem: during setup we move it to a working country, and playlists and likes are preserved. What happens to the account when the country changes is covered in detail in the article how to change the region of a Spotify account.
Why not Argentina or Nigeria
Argentina looks cheap only on the price list. Local taxes on foreign digital services are added to the subscription price there, the final amount charged to the card is noticeably higher than the nominal price, and the card itself must be Argentine. For us this means expensive and unreliable payment; for the buyer, a region that is more expensive than Egypt with the same features.
Nigeria is the lowest official price in the world, and that is exactly why Spotify checks Nigerian accounts more often than others. Subscriptions drop off there, payments are regularly declined, and restoring such a subscription under the guarantee would have to be done every month. We tried it and gave it up: better a few tens of cents more expensive, but done once.
The US and Europe are in the table as a reference point: this is the price from which the savings are counted. There is no point setting up there — a local card is needed, and the cost is higher than any of our terms.
What this means for the buyer
In practice — nothing needs to be done. You choose the plan and term in the card above, and we assign the country: Individual goes to Egypt, Duo and Family to Pakistan, Platinum to India. There is no need to change the account region yourself, look for a VPN for the right country or buy gift cards — the region change is part of the setup.
A few things worth knowing in advance:
- The account region will change. If the account was in a European or any other region, it will become Egyptian, Pakistani or Indian. This does not affect the music: the catalog is global, playlists and history are preserved. The only noticeable difference is that some of the "popular in your country" selections will become local; "Daily Mix" and recommendations remain yours.
- The interface language does not change. It is tied to the app settings, not the account's country.
- You do not need to and cannot pay in the app. The subscription is paid for the entire term; auto-renewal is not enabled. Renewal is through the manager, a couple of days before the end; how it works is described on the Spotify Premium renewal page.
- No VPN is needed for listening. The app works without one. A VPN for the country of setup is useful as a precaution on long terms and is required only for the web player — the same rules as on the Spotify Premium landing page.
How to read the prices in the tables
The first table shows our price per month for each plan. It is calculated from the purchase price in the country of setup at the exchange rate at the moment the page is built and matches the price in the order. Long terms are cheaper per month — the full "plan × term" grid is on the Spotify Premium tariffs page.
The second table shows reference points for the official price of Spotify Individual by country. These are Spotify's prices, not ours, and they are given rounded: Spotify changes regional prices two or three times a year, and the exact figure in local currency goes stale faster than it can be rewritten. For comparing countries with each other, this accuracy is enough; for a purchase, go by the first table and the product card.
The difference between the official price in the country of setup and ours is the setup, the region change, the check and the guarantee for the entire paid term: if the subscription drops off, we restore or replace it. The only thing the guarantee does not cover is a ban on the account itself by Spotify's decision; details on the guarantees page.
How the setup works
- Choose a plan and term in the card and message @timurjob1 — or press "Buy on Telegram," and the order text fills in by itself.
- Pay in cryptocurrency (USDT).
- Send the login and password for the account; if two-factor authentication is on, the confirmation code. If you log in through Facebook, Google or Apple, let us know in advance.
- In 15–30 minutes the region is changed and Premium is active. Playlists, likes and history are in place.
- Check the subscription in the settings and change your password.
If Premium is still active on the account, a new subscription cannot be set up — Spotify terms do not add up. Message the manager a couple of days before the end, and he will quote the price for that day and book a time. Which plan to take if two people or a family listen is on the Family and Duo page; if in doubt, describe in the chat who listens and how, and the manager will advise.
